I owe £6,600 but am homeless – should I ignore the debt?

I owe £6,600 to one creditor as a career development loan – i am unemployed and homeless; should I just ignore the bank? doesn’t seem like i have much to lose and they can’t serve papers on me.

We would usually recommend asking the Citizens Advice Bureau about a Debt Relief Order, but if it was classified as a Student Loan it will be rejected. If it was a ‘normal’ bank loan that was simply used for study purposes, it would qualify. To qualify for a Debt Relief Order you will need to have a permanent address, but it might be worth speaking to the Debt Adviser at your local CAB, as there might be a way around this.

Bankruptcy UK offers bankruptcy help across the board and will submit your application online. Court appearances for bankruptcy are no longer required. Feel free to call us on 01425 600129 for a chat about your circumstances.
