I’m thinking of going bankrupt for the second time in 5yrs. I don’t how this would look and how my job might be affected. We had a joint mortage taken prior to the first bankruptcy which we bought the interest in, though my ex has allowed the property to be repossessed and this also concerns me. We had a rough year, with a marriage break up due to mental abuse, losing my mother in November and having to start afresh after being granted a council home. I also had to change my name in order for my ex not to find us. I’m scared and any advice would be appreciated.
In the circumstances, we feel there is no threat of receiving a bankruptcy restriction, a punitive measure which might extend the bankruptcy for a further 2 – 3 years. There are very few jobs which might be lost due to bankruptcy and unless it is specifically mentioned in a contract, you should be fine. Please remember, the Official Receiver’s role is essentially an administrative one and many of the staff are mature women who will be sympathetic, rather than judgemental about your circumstances.
Bankruptcy UK offers a full bankruptcy administration service and will submit your bankruptcy application online. Court appearances are no longer required for bankruptcy. Call us for bankruptcy help on 01425 600129 or for an informal chat about your circumstances.
