Bankruptcy and Directorships – can I still advise my company?

Can a bankrupt be a company director, either undischarged or discharged? And if not, can I still advise the new Directors?

Not only are you not allowed to practice as a Director, but you definitely cannot be seen to be influencing the running of a company in any way. However, this changes once the 12 month bankruptcy period has passed and you are entitled to reapply. There are no restrictions on self employment / sole traders during bankruptcy and there is nothing to prevent you from being the Director of an offshore company.
